His research explores the intersections of African history, Pan-Africanism, economic development, and global Black intellectual traditions. He examines how African scholars, policymakers, and institutions shaped debates on decolonization, development, and international cooperation, offering historical perspectives that illuminate many of today's most pressing policy challenges.

His scholarship has appeared in leading academic journals, including the Journal of African History, Journal of African American History, African Studies Review, and Radical History Review, as well as public outlets such as The Washington Post, The Conversation, and Africa Is a Country. His research has been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Social Science Research Council, the Fulbright Program, and the U.S. Department of State.

Beyond academia, Gyamfi is committed to bridging scholarship and public policy. He has delivered invited lectures and keynote addresses across Africa, Europe, Latin America, and North America on African development, Pan-Africanism, and the global African diaspora.
